People with disabilities form one of the major groups of recipients of social security benefits. The basis of this study has been to explore people's experiences and attitudes towards the process of claiming disability benefits. A qualitative rather than quantitative research approach has been used to investigate possible difficulties with the benefit claim process and the factors influencing take-up of disability benefits.
