Climate change is transforming the Arctic. At the same time, the region is experiencing a far-reaching political shift with the emergence of an unprecedented cooperative spirit between Arctic states. This shift challenges the history of confrontation in the Arctic associated with the Cold War and contemporary fears about the rise of resource conflicts in the region. This volume is designed to explore the emergence of the new forms of Arctic governance based uponcooperation rather than competition. Through close analysis of key aspects of the emerging regional governance order, the volume's authors provide important and original insights on the relationshipbetween sovereignty, multilateral cooperation, and the challenges of globalisation at a time of unprecedented change in the Arctic.
