Scientific reason, common sense and the accepted wisdom have always been that psychotic illness (experience) is a major and ongoing medical situation for which the only hope is maintenance of the condition; that regular professional intervention is required; that hospitalisations will be frequent throughout the person's life;that maintenance medication will be indicated for the duration of the person's life; and that something fundamentally wrong with the person's biochemical make-up is the root cause of the psychosis. For some of us, the facts of our life experience are openly challenging this view. Recovery is possible.
