The book's 5 sessions will explore the scriptures developed by the VBS development group for the 2004 Superheroes theme. The adult book will explore definitions and traditional ideas of the concept of hero using the cultural fascination with the Superhero as a segue. It will move into the notion of biblical virtue as displayed by the central characters in each of the following scriptures. It will offer opportunities for participants to reflect upon ways contemporary Christians can be heroic in everyday life as they think about the faith and the actions of biblical characters. The scriptures are as follows: (1) Daniel, Chapter 6 (2) Esther (The whole book) (3) The Four Friends Mark 2:1-12 (4) Widow's Offering Luke 21:1-4 (5) Jesus washes the disciples' feet. John 13:1-17; 34-35. -
