This publication contains the final report of the Committee of Enquiry into Education in South Australia, the major task of which was to examine and make recommendations to the Minister of Education on the educational system of South Australia. The report begins with a summary of recommendations. Following this summary, there is a discussion of and commentary on the committee's first report. For the most part, the final report discusses topics additional to the ones examined in the first report. However, it also includes a further consideration of topics covered in the first report where it was felt that further comment was necessary. The remainder of the publication focuses on the following topics: the school curriculum; curriculum development in the schools; education and technological change; children and their schools; the secondary school curriculum; the curriculum of the upper secondary school; the future of technical and further education; the education of special groups; student evaluation; the evaluation of schools; the evaluation of the educational system; raising the quality of the teaching service; conditions in the teaching service; the use of limited resources; and a time for change.
