Landsat satellite images make possible comparative 2-dimensional measurements of changes in our planet over time. This report includes full-color and B&W satellite photos of the glaciers of Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina, including the Dry and Wet Andes and a section on Rock Glaciers. The photos are accompanied by essays by prominent scientists. Landsat images, together with aerial photos and maps, are used to produce glacier inventories, define glacier locations, support on-going field studies of glacier dynamics, and monitor the extensive glacier recession that has taken place and is continuing in many parts of South America.
