She and her husband, Alton, spend most weekends throughout the summer at their mountain retreat, hiking or pedaling their bikes along mountain trails. Ed Southern lived in Charlotte a number of years and offers a keen, unbiased view of what the city offers. And in the five years since she moved to the state, Anne Holcomb Waters has combed the beaches from Wrightsville Beach to Kill Devil Hills to learn more about her adopted home and get her fill of the ocean.
