This book is a record of the life and times of Abu Shahid (born in New York in April 1931 John Charles Brooks). Raised in New York s mean streets he survived the Depression. Early encounters with the law got him transplanted to Pittsburgh, PA, when he was 14 years old, where being an only child he started his solo quest for survival. In which course he did a stint in the Armed Forces between Korea and Vietnam from 56 through 58 and coming home to the civil rights movement led by Martin Luther King and the rising Nation of Islam under Elijah Muhammad and Malcolm X, where he met Allah in the person of Clarence 13X later to be known as The Father. They became fast friends and founders of the 5% Nation, now known as the Nation of Gods and Earths. Their struggle and rise from the underworld throughout all the hectic 60s has led to this day and time where now Abu Shahid, a gentlemen of advanced age, a season senior citizen, the Elder of the Nation of Gods and Earths, has become willing to set down as his legacy the historical facts and perspectives for those who seek a higher level of enlightenment and follow a path of truth, justice and righteousness for the common good of all mankind.
