Description

Grid computing allows cooperative research by sharing local high performance computing resources with remote organizations. The software necessary to facilitate such resource sharing, or grid middleware, is reaching production quality and is currently used by groups of collaborating universities and other research organizations. This paper examines the feasibility of utilizing popular grid middleware implementations on local resources at the University of Arkansas, providing students with access to thousands of shared resources, with minimal maintenance required of local resource administrators.
