Excerpt from Political History of Europe: From 1815 to 1848 This history is intended to give American Students an accurate if somewhat succinct account of the course of Post-Napoleonic European Political History. While a study of sources has not been neglected the work does not pretend to be more than a compilation from the best and most accessible and usually untranslated continental authorities. Where American authorities are used it has usually been so indicated. While Bulle has largely been drawn on for facts, and while the author has used material from the notes of lectures heard in Berlin from Lenz, Delbrueck and other world-famous historians to whose spoken as well as written words he feels deeply indebted, yet the views expressed sometimes differ so materially from those of any of these or the numerous other learned writers consulted that the author begs leave, especially where they should prove displeasing, to assume responsibility for them.
