Description
Sam Jackson is a Harvard educated young man entering the Union Army as a Surgeon and Officer soon after graduating from medical school. Growing up as the younger son of a dairy farmer in Pennsylvania, Sam had a natural predilection for nature and the joy of all life. Medicine seemed to be a natural journey for Sam. He easily excelled in his studies, is well-liked, the perfect life for the perfect student in a not-so-perfect time as when the country is struggling to live as one nation. A son's place was typically to follow the family business, farming, but Sam left that to his brother choosing instead school and life as a military surgeon. This book takes you on the journey with Sam as he moves forward in his career as a Union Army Surgeon, his life as an officer, a husband and new father punctuated by war. You'll get a feel for just how sensitive Major Samuel Jackson is toward all humans, and not just the ones in the blue uniforms. Perhaps Sam's southern friends and family helped to shape his natural feeling that "all men are created equal." Based on historical fact, the story takes a fictitious character through his life in a very real time in US history. "No End in Sight" is an exciting and poignant story with easily identifiable emotions as the characters live and die with honor, courage and dignity.
