I am always amazed at the power of God and His ability to change a life. Karen's life is an amazing and captivating story of God's goodness in the midst of difficult circumstances. It is not easy to tell others about your failures, pains and hurts but Karen has found the inner freedom required to do just that. Her story is a "must-read" for any woman dealing with difficult relationship problems, alcohol addictions, drug addictions or post-abortive depression. I have yet to meet someone healed of any of those issues without help from God. We make new years resolutions that we cannot keep for more than a week. We start diets that we cheat on. We vow to quit drinking but then begin to lose control after just one glass of wine. The point is it is very difficult to "know ourselves". We think we know ourselves and control ourselves but then eventually find ourselves in situations similar to Karen's. We find ourselves in over our heads and out of control. The importance of a book such as this one is it gives us hope. In the midst of difficulties we find hope in a God that is bigger than ourselves. We find hope in a God that cares about us and loves us. Many of us think that our problems are God's fault. But once we come to a place of surrender we find out that we shouldn't be angry at God. He never left us. He was always waiting for us to turn to Him for help. It is at this point in our lives that we really come to "know ourselves" for what we really are. We are hopeless and depressed. We are empty and broken. This is the classic bible story of the prostitute, tax collector or sinner coming to Jesus. It is not a bad place just a real place. God shows up in the real places of our lives. God shows up when we are ready. Enjoy this book. It is a wonderful testimony of the power of God and His love. Joe Miller
