Description
This is the first practical book on spatial microsimulation, a multi-level modeling approach that involves the generation, analysis, and modeling of individual-level data allocated to geographical zones. The book presents population synthesis stage methods that demonstrate how individual-level (but non-geographical) data can be combined with geographically aggregated datasets of administrative zones. This approach extracts the "best of both worlds" in terms of spatial resolution and detail and overcomes issues of data confidentiality and reproducibility by using non-sensitive data inputs. The book is suitable for PhD students and applied researchers in health, economics, transport, and other fields that require individual-level data allocated to small geographic zones.
