For most, Christmas is a time filled with joy. But for some, it can be a difficult season. Our fears, the trials that may befall us, and our longings for those we've lost become especially poignant. Some of us may even feel that Christmas is not a time of celebration, but of sorrow. But let us consider what Scripture tells us about the first Christmas. What really happened? For the first time, God Himself—the Creator of the Universe, the King of Kings, the Everlasting Father—stepped into our world! He stepped in—not to enjoy the wealth or the beauty or the joys—but to experience our suffering, our longings, and our sorrows. He stepped in—not to rub shoulders with the strong, the powerful, and the wealthy people of this world—but to become one of the lowly, the despised, and the rejected of men. He stepped in—not to bask in the rays of the sun—but to experience the darkness. From the moment of His birth, He experienced far from ideal circumstances. And yet, we remember His words, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”This production reminds us that, despite what sorrows we might face, there is certainly a reason to celebrate! This is a full-length, Christmas production that requires both child and adult actors. It is designed to be performed within a Christian church setting. Includes: stage directions, full script with song lyrics, parent letter templates, and program template.
