Found in modern day Guatemala, it discusses the Quiché kingdom, one of the empire's states in the highlands of Guatemala.The Popol Vuh, or "Book of the People,” includes creation myths, epic tales of the Hero Twins Hunahpú and Xbalanqué, and genealogies, telling a tale of myth, royalty, and history. It survived the fall of the Mayan empire, and it was translated by the 18th century Dominican friar Francisco Ximénez.
