The Trail of the White Mule was written in the year 1922 by B.M. Bower. This is a drawn-out story of one arrogant Mr. Casey Ryan who spent the whole book chasing around getting into trouble, fighting, bragging on himself and being generally abusive to anyone he happened upon. His slang language/accent was irritating. He left his wife routinely without telling her where he was for many days. He was the main character and I disliked him immensely. The setting is the Southern California desert during the prohibition era. He willingly got involved with moonshiners and transporting booze - but lucked out in the end by helping the authorities
