Played in rotation on eight courses throughout Scotland and England, the Open Championship is the oldest golfing competition in the world. The courses embody tradition that dates back to the very beginning of the game itself. It is still the ambition of most professional golfers to see their name inscribed upon the famous claret jug that bears the name of every winner since Young Tom Morris, the Champion of 1872. Other courses that no longer host the Open, but once did, are also featured.
