This book examines past experience and future directions inthe management of wicked environmental problems and describes newstrategies for mitigating the conflicts inherent in these seeminglyintractable situations. Most important, it reviews currentthinking on the way forward, focusing on the implementation of"learning networks" in which public managers, technicalexperts, and public stakeholders collaborate in decision-makingprocesses that are analytic, iterative, and deliberative.
