The study of social, cultural, psychological, cognitive and biological aspects of aging is known as gerontology. It aims to trace the progressive changes that take place with the passage of time in a cell, a tissue, an organ system, a total organism and a group of organisms. Gerontology deals with the changes that occur between the completion of maturity and the death of the individual. It has sub-fields like biogerontology, social gerontology, environmental gerontology, and jurisprudential gerontology. Biogerontology deals with the biological aging process, its potential means and evolutionary origins to interfere in the process. Social gerontology is a subset that has specialized in studying and working with older adults. Environmental gerontology is a specialty of gerontology that seeks to improve the relationship between aging persons and their physical and social environments. Jurisprudential gerontology deals with the ways, laws and legal structures that interact with the aging experience. This book unravels the recent studies in the field of gerontology. It aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects of gerontology and the recent researches in this field. This book is a resource guide for experts as well as students.
