Description
The study of ecological processes which are used in agricultural production systems is referred to as agroecology. It applies the principles of ecology to the management of agroecosystems. It also focuses on the basic properties of agroecosystems such as sustainability, stability, productivity and equitability. Some of the major varieties of agroecology are ecosystem agroecology and agro-population ecology. Agroecology is an interdisciplinary subject which uses various sciences to examine the elements of agroecosystems such as soil properties and the interactions between plants and insects. It also utilizes social sciences to study how rural communities get affected by farming practices. This book is a compilation of chapters that discuss the most vital concepts in the discipline of agroecology. Most of the topics introduced in this book cover new techniques and applications of this field. It aims to serve as a resource guide for students and experts alike and contribute to the growth of agroecology.
