"The purpose of the book is to combine knowledge from the fields of biomechanics and neurophysiology into a unified framework known as neuromechanics. From this perspective, human movement is characterized as being controlled by the nervous system within the constraints dictated by the laws of physics. The premise of the book is that an understanding of the changes in movement capabilities of humans in health and disease require foundational knowledge in both biomechanics and neurophysiology. The book is organized into three parts: the first two parts discuss the essentials of biomechanics and neurophysiology and the third part synthesizes this knowledge to provide a comprehensive overview of human movement capabilities"--
