The Journey's the Destination: Crossing America is the story of an older man's quest which started fifty-five years earlier when showing a film to his fourth-grade students. The trip from Parkton, Maryland to the Olympic National Park in Washington is a delight of memorable moments as John re-learns history that didn't quite take in school, ponders the wonders of a country's slowly unfolding geography, reminisces with himself when driving alone, and meets with people along the way to hear the stories they hold inside. It's the Lewis and Clark Trail, Native Americans, small-town USA, and the stories of the common folk that captures his attention. On this journey, tiring and with dimming eyesight, John waves a white flag and is joined by his wife half way across the country in South Dakota. With doubt and enthusiasm, they forge ahead through the fall of 2017 as early snows hit the Rockies and the far west erupts in wildfire.
