"And Said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves." PRAYER IS THE PRIORITY OF GOD'S HOUSEWe are either a house of prayer, or a den of thieves. Why is the contrast drawn between prayer and thieves?It is through prayer that God chooses to work in the earth. If we rob him of our prayers, then his purpose is hindered in the earth. We are the ones (his church) that have been given the authority to bring his kingdom into the earth through prayer.And he said unto them, when you pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. (Luke 11:2)We can see from this passage of scripture (and there are many more) that God gives us the responsibility of bringing forth his rule and his will in the earth through our prayers. If we expect to see that which is true in heaven reproduced in this earth then we must become temples of prayer. If not, we are thieves. We have robbed God of his place in the earth. We have robbed the people of earth of God's redemption and restoration in Christ.
