This is a history of the Rolls-Royce motor car from 1904 to 1946. The result of a partnership between engineer Frederick Henry Royce and dealer Charles Stewart Rolls, the first Rolls-Royce was produced in 1904, the first in an initial series that culminated in the Silver Ghost. During the Depression the so-called Baby Rolls ensured the company's survival, and the Silver Ghost was superceded in 1925 by the Silver Phantom. The period covered by the book concludes with the launch of the Silver Wraith in 1946.
