This is the story of a woman doctor striving to balance a home life, a professional career and a driving commitment to improving the quality of life of women and children. Alice Bush graduated in 1937 and had, by the time of her death in 1974, reached the highest honours of her profession. A specialist allergist and paediatrician, Alice was at the vanguard of debates about the provision of helath services, attitudes to mental health, personal and family relationships, the role of women, changing attitudes to sexuality, reproductive rights and health education.
