La prostitution revêt aujourd’hui dans son organisation des formes directement inspirées par la mondialisation financière. La logique néolibérale a trouvé dans le système prostitutionnel un « secteur » privilégié où se déployer, qui génère d'énormes profits : trafiquer les êtres humains d'Asie, d'Afrique ou d'Europe et les prostituer procure beaucoup de bénéfices pour peu d'investissements. Cette mondialisation-là, qui n'épargne aucun pays, illustre le processus de la marchandisation généralisée, à laquelle n'est mise aucune limite. C'est dans ce contexte que quelques pays ont choisi de légaliser et réglementer la prostitution : aux Pays-Bas ou en Allemagne, elle est considérée comme une banale "prestation de service". Est-ce là une voie à suivre ? C'est oublier la violence qui est faite aux femmes, et au-delà d'elles l'atteinte qui est portée à la dignité humaine. Est-on prêt à renoncer au respect des droits humains ?
