C’est en pleurant et tempêtant que leur fille monte à bord d’un train qui la conduira chez une parente éloignée qu’elle connaît à peine. Auprès de sa tante Géraldine, Charlotte apprendra le métier de boulangère pour lequel elle se passionnera. Travailleuse acharnée, elle doublera les recettes du petit commerce. Son ambition ne s’arrêtera pas là et elle parviendra à convaincre sa tante d’ajouter des gâteaux à la vente de pain. Même si le succès est immédiat, le malheur semble s’acharner sur elle. Saura-t-elle y faire face et déjouer les pièges que le destin place sur sa route ?
