Bilder besitzen die Fähigkeit, menschliche Handlungen aktiv zu beeinflussen. Dies scheint im Widerspruch zu ihrem Status als Artefakt zu stehen. Der vorliegende Band "Et in imagine ego" greift diese Doppelnatur auf, um das symbiotische Verhältnis zwischen Mensch und Bild aufzudecken. Die sowohl kunstwissenschaftlich als auch philosophisch getragene Bildakt-Theorie beruht auf der Überzeugung, dass bildliche Wirkmechanismen insbesondere durch die im Bild angelegten Verkörperungsprinzipien zur Entfaltung gelangen. Nur unter Berücksichtigung eines emergenten Rezeptionsprozesses zwischen zwei verkörperten Entitäten – Bild und Betrachter – ist die Bedeutung des Bildakts vollständig erfassbar. In fünfundzwanzig Beiträgen werden die vielfältigen Facetten der reziproken Durchdringung von Bildakt und Verkörperung durch Mitarbeiter und Fellows der gleichnamigen DFG Kolleg-Forschergruppe vorgestellt.
