Dieser Band enthält Vorträge der Landauer Semantikkonferenz Semantische Unbestimmtheit im Lexikon, die vom 2. bis 4. Oktober 2008 an der Universität Koblenz-Landau stattfand. Da gegenwärtig noch keine geschlossene «Unbestimmtheits-Theorie» existiert, besteht das Erkenntnisziel darin, relevante Ausschnitte zum Unbestimmtheitsphänomen aus dem Blickwinkel unterschiedlicher Orientierungen intensiver zu beleuchten. Die Autorinnen und Autoren verdeutlichen u. a., dass der Begriff der semantischen Unbestimmtheit im Lexikon über tradierte Formen der Unbestimmtheit hinausgeht und wissenschaftshistorisch sowie konzeptionenabhängig zu bestimmen ist; dass spezifische Wissensstrukturen im mentalen Lexikon eine Affinität zu Unbestimmtheitsphänomenen besitzen; dass der Inferenzbegriff bezüglich der Unbestimmtheit weiter auszudifferenzieren ist; dass interdisziplinäre Sehweisen eine Öffnung der Begrifflichkeiten erforderlich machen. Präsentiert werden erkenntnisgewinnende Wege im Untersuchungsbereich, indem die Problematik von unterschiedlichen sprachlichen Phänomenen aus entfaltet wird, Theoreme zu deren Beschreibung geprüft werden und aufgezeigt wird, welche Ansätze zur Problemschärfung produktiv zu machen sind.
