Auf diese Weise vermitteln Darstellungen zwischen Geist und Welt ebenso wie zwischen Selbst und Anderen. Gleichgültig, ob wir etwas erzählen oder in der Zeitung lesen, ob wir ein Bild ins Netz stellen oder einen Film anschauen, stets haben wir es mit Darstellungen zu tun, die Vorstellungen artikulieren und erzeugen. Der Doppelsinn von Repräsentation als mentale Vorstellung und mediale Darstellung hat darin seinen guten Grund. Das Buch entfaltet eine Darstellungstheorie in therapeutisch-kritischer Absicht. Es zielt darauf, Darstellungspraxen als spezifisch menschlich, weil geistig und freiheitlich zu qualifizieren, um im Streit der Interpretationen bessere von schlechteren unterscheiden zu können.
