John C. Calhoun was the seventh Vice President of the United States from 1825 to 1832. He was a strong defendant of slavery and of Southern values versus Northern threats. His beliefs and warnings heavily influenced the South's secession from the Union in 1860–1861. This is volume one out of six of his works, this one containing his brilliant writings ‘A Disquisition on Government’ and ‘A Discourse On The Constitution And Government Of The United States’.
