Mutluluk nedir? sorusu belki de düşünce tarihinin en eski sorularından biridir. Her insan için aslında hayatın temel gayesinin mutluluk olduğu kabul edilir. Bu da birçok bilim dalının ilgisini çekmiş, ilk zamanlardan günümüze kadar mutlu olmanın ve mutluluğu etkileyen faktörlerin neler olduğu hep tartışılagelmiştir. Yüzyıllardan beri açıklanmaya çalışılan mutluluk kavramı zaman içinde psikoloji başta olmak üzere sosyoloji ve toplum bilimleri gibi birçok alanda irdelenmiş ve zamanla “Mutluluk Ekonomisi” başlığı altında iktisat biliminin de tartışma alanları içerisinde yerini almıştır. Bu kapsamda, bu kitap konuya ilgi duyanlar için mutluluk ekonomisine ilişkin temel bilgileri akademisyenler üzerinden örnekleyerek ortaya koymak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır.
