Bismarck ist ein biographischer Roman von Karl Bleibtreu, erstmals erschienen im Jahre 1915. Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898) war ein deutscher Politiker und Staatsmann. Von 1862 bis 1890 - mit einer kurzen Unterbrechung im Jahr 1873 - war er Ministerpräsident von Preußen, von 1867 bis 1871 zugleich Bundeskanzler des Norddeutschen Bundes sowie von 1871 bis 1890 erster Reichskanzler des Deutschen Reiches, dessen Gründung er maßgeblich vorangetrieben hatte. Er setzte außenpolitisch auf einen Ausgleich der Mächte (europäisches Gleichgewicht). Karl August Bleibtreu (1859-1928) war ein deutscher Schriftsteller und Sohn des bekannten Schlachtenmalers Georg Bleibtreu. Bleibtreus Weltbild wurde geprägt durch Heroismus, Nationalismus, Männlichkeitskult und pessimistischen Weltschmerz. Als historischen Stoff sah er die zahlreichen Völkerschlachten sowie die großen historischen Persönlichkeiten wie Napoleon, Bismarck oder Lord Byron.
