Sobre la Leyenda Negra trata de analizar, cuestión a cuestión, cada uno de los hitos y temas que conforman no sólo un género historiográfico construido a partir de dicho rótulo, sino también un prisma a través del cual se reconstruye negativamente la Historia de España dando como fruto una ideología de indudables repercusiones en el presente de la nación española. El resultado de este análisis no es una leyenda rosa de signo contrario pero igualmente legendaria, sino un retrato, el de la identidad histórica de España, que permanece deformado por la transformación caricaturesca que sobre la misma produce la Leyenda Negra. Este libro permite así obtener una imagen de España más ajustada a la realidad histórica. Una realidad histórica que resulta ser, a la postre, bastante más favorable a España de lo que muchos piensan.
