Las ideas económicas no están al margen del clima cultural en el que se forman y difunden, y en ese clima cultural la literatura desempeña un papel importantísimo. No solo la creación de las ideas económicas es importante, también lo es su difusión; y los medios no profesionales, como el periodismo y la literatura, llegan al público al menos tanto como lo que se expresa en los textos de los profesionales de la economía.
