Robert er en ung forfatterspire, der tjener til føden ved at arbejde for en avis. Men da hans foretagende for avisen bliver lukket, står han pludselig hjælpeløs og i pengeproblemer. På grund af en skæbnesvanger episode ender han dog pludselig på en café med en fremmed mand. De to falder i snak, og før Robert har set sig om, har dette møde og de fremtidige begivenheder ændret hans liv – spørgsmålet er blot, om han er rustet til at få vendt sin tilværelse på hovedet? Willy Corsari (1897-1998) var en belgisk forfatter. Hun fik sin litterære debut i 1927 og udgav siden adskillige romaner helt frem til starten af 1970‘erne. Flere af Corsaris romaner blev oversat til dansk, heriblandt "Illusion" fra 1953.
