El gran objetivo de este ensayo, fuera de darle, en líneas generales, su valor real a los hechos de la Biblia, es reivindicar la figura de Cristo, muy cuestionada por algunos en los últimos tiempos, pero que es fundamental en el período de crisis que, hoy, se vive, donde el hombre tiene problemas que parecen escapar a su control como la pandemia del coronavirus; el calentamiento climático; la expansión de la drogadicción, la delincuencia y el terrorismo, pero también los avances muy rápidos y profundos de las tecnologías que hacen insuficiente el asilarse exclusivamente en la razón en la toma de decisiones y que otorgan una importancia insoslayable a la intuición y a la ética, cuya expresión máxima es la mística, puesto que las nuevas tecnologías pueden llegar a tener un poder destructivo inmenso, impactando negativamente a la humanidad. El cristianismo, en consecuencia, debe entrar lo antes posible a una fase mística, promoviendo el establecimiento de una relación directa e íntima entre el hombre y Dios, teniendo presente la frase de San Agustín: “Ama a Dios y haz lo que quieras”.
