  诠释学本为西方的学问，从古老的圣经释义学到近代施莱尔马赫等人的改造，特别是由伽达默尔发展出哲学诠释学之后，它已经成为当代最具活力的哲学思潮之一。近十多年来，随着诠释学在我国的译介和传播，以诠释学为参照背景的中国传统哲学之反思和当代中国哲学的建设正悄然展开。中国有着两千年以上的注释经典的传统，有关“诠释”的话题和资源可以说丰厚无比，这就为诠释学的吸纳和消化营造了一个非常独特的思想空间。吸收诠释学的成果，特别是从诠释学的发展历史当中寻找对我们富有启发的线索和材料，以运用到中国经典诠释的研究当中，或促进传统资源的现代性转化，这将是大有裨益的。譬如施莱尔马赫把语言训释的语文学技巧和哲学思辨的穿透力量有机地结合起来，完成了诠释学的现代过渡。狄尔泰进一步发展了内在的心理学解释之路向，把生命哲学引入到理解和诠释的基础部分，系统地建构了精神科学的大厦。伽达默尔确认诠释学的普遍性，并以此去探求知识和真理的内蕴，从而使诠释学成为解决人类存在之本根性的学问，进而将之上升到了本体论的高度。这些历程对于我们理解中西方文化的差异，在比较的视野下来认识中国哲学的特点及其发展道路，特别是能明了它的缺失和现代性过渡之环节的匮乏，以便有目的、有针对性地对其加以补充、加以改造、加以发展，这将是极具现实意义的工作。
