El libro Migraciones antillanas: trabajo, desigualdad y xenofobia, recoge estudios de la diáspora de trabajadores antillanos procedentes de Haití y de las Antillas británicas en el Gran Caribe durante los siglos XIX y XX. Los casos analizados remiten a la correlación entre crecimiento económico y la inmigración. El desarrollo de las industrias azucarera, bananera, del cacao o del café desde la década de 1880, y la construcción del Canal de Panamá, carreteras o vías férreas, requirieron una gran masa de fuerza laboral que provino de países marcados por un estancamiento económico, bajos salarios, escasez de recursos o de tierras, altos precios de productos de primera necesidad, desempleo, superpoblación y crisis políticas. Así mismo, los ensayos del libro analizan las dinámicas raciales en las sociedades postesclavistas, la relación entre clase, raza y género, y la construcción de discursos identitarios y xenófobos en los que estos trabajadores fueron identificados con distintos nombres, yumecas en Colombia, cocolos en República Dominicana, tórtolos en Puerto Rico o negros de habla inglesa en Honduras
