Sin embargo, muchas veces, esos medios desconocen la verdadera esencia de los conflictos ambientales a los que actualmente nuestro planeta está siendo sometido por diversas causas: intereses económicos y políticos, sobrepoblación y hasta la ignorancia misma. Es por ello que los equipos de investigación del programa de Ingeniería Ambiental de la Facultad de Ingeniería y Administración de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia - Sede Palmira, desde hace más de diez años, hemos concentrado todas nuestras capacidades académicas, científicas y técnicas en proponer solución a grandes problemas ambientales que afectan varias de las regiones de Colombia. En este libro sintetizamos varias de nuestras más valiosas actividades científicas que han contribuido a avanzar en la comprensión, el análisis y la presentación de soluciones a tales problemas.
