El gran desarrollo que han adquirido los medios masivos de comunicación, el estrechamiento de los vínculos sociales dentro de las comunidades humanas modernas, entre otras, conducen a resaltar las ventajas de una información amplia y oportuna, pero los temores de una manifestación social que ahogue los valores personales lleva también a que cobren importancia aspectos de la vida individual que debieran quedar protegidos -entre ellos, el respeto de la vida privada.
