Mereu optimistă, în ciuda bolii sale şi a suferinţelor prin care a trecut, Nujeen dezvăluie lumii întregi ce înseamnă să trăieşti sub o dictatură şi să înduri ororile războiului civil, să fii nevoit să-ţi părăseşti ţara şi să depinzi de alţii. Povestea ei este drama refugiaţilor sirieni văzută prin ochii unei fete al cărei curaj impresionează şi care nu încetează nicio clipă să spere.
