Keistimewaan terpenting dari Tafsir surah Yasin Ibnu Katsir ini begitu detail menafsirkan al-Qur’an dengan al-Qur’an (ayat dengan ayat yang lain), menafsirkan al-Qur’an dengan as-Sunnah (Hadits), kemudian dengan perkataan para salafush shalih (pendahulu kita yang sholih, yakni para shahabat, tabi’in dan tabi’ut tabi’in), kemudian dengan kaidah-kaidah bahasa Arab. Surah Yaasiin mengemukakan tentang Al-Qur’an, kanabian Muhammad Saw. menegaskan adanya hari berbangkit disertai bukti-buktinya baik bukti-bukti alamiah maupun bukti-bukti akliyah; kemudian mengemukakan beberapa perumpamaan diantaranya dengan mengemukakan kisah utusan-utusan Nabi Isa Almasih as. dengan penduduk Anthakiyah. Kesemuanya dikemukakan sebagai penghibur hati Rasulullah Saw. dan untuk menambah keyakinan orang-orang beriman yang sedang mengalami tekanan-tekanan dari kaum musyrikin.
