Description

近代有機金屬化學（Organometallic Chemistry）的發展肇因於1951 年鐵辛（Ferrocene）的發現。它獨特的構型正如其他許許多多有機金屬化合物一樣，引發化學家的好奇心及想像力，期間更激發化學家努力發展出新的鍵結理論，來闡述這些分子特殊的鍵結模式。更有甚者，這個領域發展的強勁動力和有機金屬化合物的優異催化能力有相當大的關連。化學家將一些有機金屬化合物當觸媒應用在工業合成上，早已樹立了許多成功的典範。利用具有光學活性的有機金屬化合物當觸媒，在近幾十年來熱門的「不對稱合成」上扮演不可或缺的角色。有機金屬化學超過半世紀的蓬勃發展，無疑地是無數化學家腦力激盪及辛勤努力工作下的豐碩成果。
