「針尖上的天使」看似怪異的意象，來自於歐洲中世經院神學哲學中的一道提問。經過無數的爭論與計算,據說有一個答案是:「針尖上能夠納下的天使數量等於2的平方根」不為無益之事，何以遣有涯之生。乳頭上的天使，就有那麼一點點這樣的意思。
