يدور هذا الكتاب "الاستشراق والاتجاهات الفكرية في التاريخ الإسلامي : برنارد لويس نموذجا" أحد كبار المستشرقين في القرن الماضي وهذا القرن احتل مكانة بارزة في الدوائر الاستشراقية وكذلك في الدوائر السياسية الاستخباراتيه والصهيونية العالمية حتى ينسب إليه التوصية بغزو العراق وبتقسيم العالم الإسلامي أو بمزيد من التقسيم لهذا العالم. والمقسّم لا يقسّم كما قيل في الصلاة أن السهو في سجدة السهو لا شيء فيها، فالصغير لا يصغّر، برنارد لويس له خطورة غفل عنها الكثيرون وهي أنه عمل في الجامعات الإنجليزية وفي الجامعات الأمريكية وتخرج تحت يده مئات إن لم يكن الآلاف من الطلبة من جميع الأجناس والأعراق والملل وحقنهم بحقنات قاتلة من تشويه الإسلام وكرهه حتى إني لقيت أستاذا فلسطينياً متخصصا ً في التاريخ في جامعة برنستون بالولايات المتحدة فسألته ما الكتاب الذي تدرّسونه في التاريخ الإسلامي فقال (العرب في التاريخ) لبرنارد لويس، فتعجبت ألم تجدوا كتابا أفضل منه؟ إنها لا تعمى الأبصار ولكن تعمى القلوب التي في الصدور. فكما كان لمونتجمري وات تلاميذ يرددون أليست عقوبة قتل كل رجال بني قريظة حتى من احتلم من الصبية عقوبة قاسية فلبرنارد لويس تلاميذ أشد مكراً وخبثاً. يسلط هذا الكتاب الضوء على ما كتبه لويس منذ بداياته الأولى التي انخدع بعضهم بأنه كان موضوعيا وعلمياً (لم يكن كذلك) حتى عام 1994 وما بعدها بقليل. أرجو أن يكون في الكتاب صورة واضحة لهذا المستشرق الخطير الذي عاش أكثر من مائة سنة (102 سنة حيث ولد عام 1916 وهلك عام 2018م) وما كتبه حول كل قضايا الأمة الإسلامية من عقيدة وتاريخ وشريعة وقضايا معاصرة. لعلنا ندرك كيف يشوه بعض المستشرقين كل ما له علاقة بالإسلام ويحقنوه لتلاميذهم وللإعلام وللسياسيين ومع ذلك فلا زلنا نبعث أبناءنا لدراسة تاريخنا في الجامعات الأوربية والأمريكية.
