Set in an alternative history line, Between the Mountains and the Sea, recounts the journey of Arun, an idealistic young diplomat and world server, caught between his principles, particularly his commitment to global compassion, and the hard-nosed political demands of the global arena in which he lives and works. Arun soon discovers that there are occult groups and forces at work that stage manage apparent world events with plausible deniability so as to promote behind the scenes their own political, social, and economic interests. He learns that spectacular success in the global organization in which he works comes only at the price of catering to or joining the shadowy cabal behind reported world events. But to do so would go against all that he holds dear, including the woman of his life. Yet, he realizes that for his destiny to unfold and for him to make the impact on the world that he craves, he will have to make some hard choices. The dilemma and eventual choices Arun makes speaks to the condition of innumerable people caught in our networked world dominated by fake news and hidden economic and political vested interests.
