Oasis were a rock band from Manchester, Lancashire, England, UK, formed in 1991 from an earlier group, the Rain. The members of Oasis were originally Liam Gallagher (vocals, tambourine), Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll (drums). Liam's older brother, Noel Gallagher (lead guitar, vocals) joined as their 5th member when he returned to Manchester, completing the band's core, settled line-up.
