More than two years separated a pair of brothers born in the upheaval of Prohibition, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, and WWII. Greater than those to this duo, was one Leticia Fleur Willard. A rich, femme fatal whose beauty shamed Veronica Lake, coupled to a depravity unmatched by Delilah. Tall, blonde, built, spoiled, shameless, and self-centered, "Letty" got what Letty wanted. At first, that happened to be the best player on Tulane's football squad in the early 1930s. But when Jedidiah Medders decided to become an adult after his tour of duty as the big man on campus, Leticia grew only more childish with age. She simply wasn't interested in growing up, and particularly in growing old. Her goal was to remain being eighteen forever, squashing anything or anyone that stood in her way. Neither marriage, nor the opulence of wealth, nor even the birth of a child grounded her fanciful flight through life. However, the laughs became harder to find, the thrills ever more dependent on chemical substances, and the list of people trampled in her quest elongated daily. This would include a second son, and Jedidiah's younger brother, Jaron. After WWII, Jedidiah attempted to hide from the memories of conflict in Europe, and a wife's betrayal by living in the coastal marshes of Louisiana. Past employment with his former in-laws afforded the option. But seemingly no amount of drinking, chasing skirts, barroom brawls, catching fish, or shooting ducks could purge his gut of one Leticia Fleur Willard Medders. Unfortunately for Jaron, neither could he.
