Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye is fiction, a Washington DC political thriller, and a near-future projection of the chilling consequences that ensue in January of 2025 when a certain usurper of the American presidency is inaugurated after being legitimately elected by American voters in the November, 2024 general election. This individual, Hugh Duffy, is the supreme con-man. He has been elected literally from the steps of a courthouse. Opposing him is a young 23-year-old black female graduate of the Princeton Journalism Program, Takoda Merrion-Jones, who takes her first job as a reporter at a major Washington daily on the Police Blotter beat. Takoda gets her big chance when she's assigned to the bombing of a suburban Maryland newspaper office in which Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Leland Paterson is killed. If, and only if, she can solve this murder can Takoda bring the dictator down. But Duffy has a squad of dirty-tricks agents, his Shadow Cabinet, arrayed against her. The two sides contend over what has become known as The Bombergate Plot until the brutal climax comes when an agent working for Duffy's lieutenant, the Russian oligarch Oleg Dmitriev, is assigned to liquidate Takoda. In a fatal twist, this man, Lucas Jamison, who is actually a Russian undercover plant operating long-term in the US with a legend provided by Russian Intelligence, and is posing as a white police officer, instead kills Takoda's beloved husband Jamal in a desperate roadside encounter which basically amounts to an execution of yet another black man by a white cop with a gunshot to the head.
